2020 Permanent Fund Policy for review
To West Area churches & members,
The West Area Board is in the process of updating/clarifying the Permanent Fund policy. The impetus for this action is twofold:
- By moving to a 5-year trailing average method, this policy will better align our policy and practices with the way that the Christian Church In Kentucky manages their permanent fund draws in their work with the Treasury Services of the Office of the General Minister and President (OGMP).
- The former Permanent Fund Policy contained some ambiguity, and this update will help bring clarification. The updated will also allow a more reliable anticipation as to the amount of the annual draw that the West Area can receive. This will be beneficial in planning the yearly West Area budget.
We will send out a hard copy of the proposed New Permanent Fund policy to all the West Area churches. Electronic copies of this proposed Permanent Fund policy can be accesses electronically at www.westareadisciples.org.
This letter and the posted proposed New Permanent Fund policy are meant to be informational to the West Area churches and their members in accordance with the amending procedures in Article IV of our current policy. The West Area Board will vote on the adoption of the New Permanent Fund policy at its specially scheduled meeting on Sunday, November 8th at 3:00 pm.
In Christ,
Jeff Mandrell
